IAC Acoustics Provides Noise-Lock® Doors for University of the Arts’ Campus Wide Renovation

University of the Arts (UArts) is a university of visual and performing arts located in Center City, Philadelphia. UArts is currently in the process of a campus-wide renovation which began in 2018 and is scheduled for completion in 2022. In the spring of 2019, IAC Acoustics partnered with C. Erickson and Sons, Inc who had been contracted directly by the university to provide construction service related to the renovation.

After working closely with Erickson’s project management team for several months, IAC manufactured and shipped 56 STC-51 single leaf Noise-Lock Doors which were installed on the 10th and 11th floors of Terra Hall. These doors provided access, security and sound isolation to a variety of different rooms including piano studios, individual and multi-person practice rooms, small studio / rehearsal spaces, drum studios, ensemble studios, isolation rooms and control rooms.

The Noise-Lock Doors included different sized factory installed windows. Several of the doors were accompanied by IAC Noise-Lock Side Lite Windows. IAC factory installs all hardware on Noise-Lock Doors to ensure proper fit, finish and function in the field. In this situation, stand-alone electrified lock-sets with WiFi capabilities were included to meet the requirement of the project.

Doors and windows were shipped from IAC Acoustics beginning late 2019 with the final shipments in spring of 2020. The installation of all Noise-Lock Doors and Windows was complete by mid-summer of 2020.
